Nintendo Officially Announces 3DS for US & European Gamers [Hands-on Video]


In the recent past Nintendo 3DS made a lot of news because of being the first handheld console to display glassless 3D videos, and after waiting for so long Nintendo has finally announced 3DS launch date for US & European customers. The handheld will be released on March 27 in US with a price tag of $249.99, while European gamers can get their hands on the device on March 25(price not available yet).



3DS will come in two colors viz., “Aqua Blue” & “Cosmos Black”. Nintendo will bundle a 2GB SD card (upgradable), charger, AC adapter, 3DS stylus, 6 augmented reality cards, and instruction manual with the handheld.




Nintendo 3DS will be shipped with a charger, AC adapter, 3DS stylus, 2GB SD memory card, 6 augmented reality card, and instruction manual. Here are some of the features revealed by Nintendo:
  • Dimensions: 134 x 74 x 21, and weighs 230 grams
  • Dual 266MHz ARM11 Processors
  • Dual screen: 3.53” top screen with 800 x 240 resolution and 3.02” bottom screen with 320 x 240 resolution
  • 3 cameras: two 0.3MP outer cameras for 3D images, and one camera inside clamshell
  • Wi-Fi
  • Stereo speakers
  • Headphone jack and mic
  • Accelerometer
  • Gyroscope
  • Slide pad
  • Parental control
  • Backward compatible with Nintendo DSi, DSi XL, and DS games.
  • DS games cartridge slot
  • Li-ion battery
  • 3D effect toggle button



Since 3DS is capable of playing 3D videos, so European customers will also get to enjoy compatible 3D content from EuroSport, and episodes of Shaun the Sheep from Aardman. Moreover, Nintendo has promised more than 30 games for 3DS around the time of its release. Here is a list of 23 of them:
